Atsushi MIYAWAKI, MD, PhD

Atsushi Miyawaki, M.D., Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor (senior) at the Department of Health Services Research, the University of Tokyo. Dr. Miyawaki's work is located at the intersection of health policy and equity, and focuses on quality of care, health care disparities, and physician performance, career, and behavior. As a researcher in Japan―a front-runner in the aging societies―he also has a strong interest in health services research related to long-term care (e.g., insurance system and caregivers). Dr. Miyawaki's work appears in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Annals of Internal Medicine, Annals of Surgery, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine, and Social Science & Medicine. Alongside his academic work, he continues in clinical practice as a physician of general internal medicine and home health care.
